With only 2 more days to go before Day 1 (and hopefully, not the last) of our resolutions for 2019, this felt as good a time as any to squeeze in one more post for this year. At the risk of sounding banal and rhetorically retrospective, 2018 has been a year like any other for me. Plenty of good times, a couple of failures and lots of lessons that I learnt trying out new experiences. This year has also been about achieving the simple goals I set for myself; Be home more often. Eat healthier. Read more books. Don’t overthink (atleast not as much as before). Talk rather than text.Spend more time with family and friends.
2018 was also about this blog; Stories by Sangeet. While my first post was back in 2009 and the blog was then called Bangalore Blues, I have been irregular. Infact there are years where I haven’t posted anything at all. 2018 was supposed to be different and it has been. (or at least I’d like to think so)
I’ve published 13 posts this year- and while that’s a low number, it’s my highest, ever. I’ve tried to put in more thought behind every post in 2018, be it a short story or a #onemoretrip travel story. I’ve been more regular with the posts and that’s also one of the reasons why I have more drafts that need to be finished and published next year.
While this progress might be a small achievement, it means a lot to me and I would not have gotten so far without the some of you who have been supportive throughout. Special thanks to Julie, Parag, Arun, Shwetha, Sachhu, Sooraj & Abhishek for not only reading every post but also for the much-needed constructive feedback.
And to Ayshwarya, my closest friend and partner. It’s been an entire year of almost missing flights and trains, and chasing gorgeous sunsets together. You have had to proofread my posts while patiently hearing my rants, pose tirelessly for a clumsy, ill-prepared photographer like me and despite all this, still had the energy and motivation to ensure that a master procrastinator like me got things done. Thank you for inspiring me to become a better human being every day.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. Hope you had a good year so far and I hope to see you here next year.
Here are a few fun travel experiences from 2018. I’ll be writing more on these next year.
